Today, the three founders of Spanish firm RCR Arquitectes joined the ranks of I.M. Pei, FAIA, Frank Gehry, FAIA, Robert Venturi, FAIA, Renzo Piano, Hon. FAIA, Zaha Hadid, and most recently, Alejandro Aravena, as recipients of the world’s highest honor given to architects: the Pritzker Architecture Prize. Bestowed annually, this award was established in 1979 to recognize the significance of a single architect’s or collaborating architects’ built portfolio. RCR Arquitectes, founded in 1988, has completed dozens of cultural, educational, library, and community projects, concentrated in the firm’s native country and in France, and the ten examples below illustrate the firm’s range in typology.
